This year, all the attention is on wireless carriers as they prepare to unveil 5G commercial services.
One of the U.S. carriers that are getting ready for this is AT&T, which is getting ready to launch its nationwide 5G network by 2020. While it’s working on a nationwide 5G network launch, AT&T promises to expand its 5G network to more cities from time to time.
Earlier today, AT&T unveiled the list of cities where it will be expanding its 5G service this year. Among the cities it included on its deployment roadmap are Minneapolis, MN and Chicago, IL. These two cities add to the list which already includes the likes of Las Vegas, Nashville, Los Angeles, San Jose, San Francisco, Orlando, and San Diego.
But in order to enjoy AT&T’s 5G service, customers need to use a compatible smartphone as well. Unfortunately, these devices are not yet available in the market since they are still getting launched this year. OnePlus, Samsung, and LG are just some of the manufacturers that have promised to launch a 5G smartphone this year. And it definitely won’t take long before these reach the U.S. shores.
