Verizon has quietly expanded its 5G network. This is good news to customers in some parts of the US since they’ve experienced slower data speeds.
As reported by PhoneArena, carriers typically use different types of technology so they can serve their customers. And this is why Verizon’s 5G network is confusing since they use a different technology.
With the new network upgrades, however, Verizon’s customers can expect to get better 5G speeds and coverage. There are a total of 20 US cities that have gotten a 5G network upgrade from Verizon. The list of cities includes the following:
Columbus, NE
Cozad, NE
Des Moines, IA
Durham, NC
Flint, MI
Grand Island, NE
Hastings, NE
Indianapolis, IN
Lansing, MI
Los Angeles, CA
Miami, FL
Nickerson, NE
North Platte, NE
Palm Bay, FL
Phoenix, AZ
Raleigh, NC
Rockford, IL
Spalding, NE
Syracuse, NY
Tilden, NE
Apart from adding more 5G service via C-band spectrum, Big Red has deployed 5G service via mmWave. This is now available in certain locations of Des Moines, Urbandale, and Clive.
The fiber connections in several Des Moines-based cell sites have also been increased. As a result, Verizon says cell sites in these areas can get 10 times the amount of data.
