Yesterday, Mint Mobile unveiled an enticing offer targeting the customers of AT&T and Verizon Wireless. The T-Mobile-owned company offered switchers three months of free service when they add four lines to their account. Verizon’s own prepaid brand, Visible, wasted no time in sharing its own offer in response to this.
Earlier today, Visible announced that they are offering $15 per month per line with a five-year rate guarantee to T-Mobile postpaid customers. This is a very smart move for Visible since the Un-carrier has been on the news for recently raising its prices.
In the press release, Verizon Value’s President, Nancy Clark, pointed out that Mint’s offer was a “short-term deal that won’t last.” Clark also shared that they wanted “to give people looking for a better deal ongoing savings, service and value with no hidden fees, period.”
Considering Mint’s offer would only be valid for the first three months, all lines will be rolled over to the standard $40 per month plan once the promotion period ends. Visible’s press release pointed out that “it is not very free if after the three month promotional period a customer is charged $600 for 5 lines, plus taxes and fees. If you read the fine print, by month four, you'll be charged $120 per line if you sign up for their "unlimited" plan (which by the way, is actually a 40 GB data plan that then slows down).”
This is why Visible has fired shots in the direction of Mint Mobile by targeting T-Mobile’s postpaid single-line customers with a “Visible plan for $15 per month (taxes and fees included, not extra) with a five-year price guarantee.”
