Back in March, carriers signed the Keep Americans Connected pledge that the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) initiated. Those that signed the pledge promised to waive late fees and cancellations for 60 days as a way of helping those affected by the health crisis.
The policy was originally set to end on May 13th. But because the pandemic does not seem to be ending anytime soon, the carriers have decided to extend their policies through June 30. These carriers include Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile. U.S. Cellular has also extended its support for its customers through July 31.
In addition to waiving late fees and cancellations, U.S. Cellular has announced that it will not be charging an overage on any plan. Customers on certain plans will also be getting an extra 15GB of hotspot data. They have also gotten rid of data limits on their high-speed internet plans.
If you are unable to pay your bills because of the pandemic, it’s important that you get in touch with your carrier and notify them of your situation. If you do not notify them, your service might get cancelled and will be billed a fee; which is what happened to some users.
