Google is stepping up to address a concerning issue with its Pixel 7A smartphones: unexpected battery swelling. The tech giant has launched an extended repair program offering free fixes for affected devices. 

Some Pixel 7A users have reported their phones exhibiting signs of battery swelling. This includes the device's casing bulging or separating, and in some cases, rapid battery drainage.

These symptoms suggest the battery is expanding beyond its intended size, which can be both inconvenient and potentially hazardous.​

If your Pixel 7A is showing these signs, Google is offering to repair it at no cost. However, the free repair covers only issues directly related to battery swelling. 

If your phone has other damages, like water exposure or a cracked screen, those would need to be addressed separately and might incur additional costs.​

How to Get Your Phone Fixed

1. Check Eligibility: Visit Google's support site to see if your device qualifies for the repair program.​
2. Submit a Request: If eligible, you can either mail your phone to Google or take it to an authorized repair center.​

For users in countries without repair facilities (excluding the U.S. and India), Google offers compensation:

• $200 for out-of-warranty devices
• $300 credit towards a new Pixel phone
• $456 for devices still under warranty​

This isn't the first time Google has initiated such a program. Previously, the company addressed screen issues in the Pixel 8 and power defects in the Pixel 4 XL through similar extended repair initiatives.
