HMD has unveiled a couple of mid-range devices in India: the HMD Crest and HMD Crest Max. These are two Android devices that are part of the HMD brand. The HMD Crest is a significant device for Indian consumers since it is the first HMD smartphone available in the country. To make it more interesting, it is also the first HMD device made in India.
As for its specs, here’s what you need to know:
The HMD Crest is an entry-level 5G smartphone that comes with a 6.67-inch FHD+ OLED display. It is powered by a Unisoc T760 chipset with four Cortex-A76 and four A55 cores. There is 6GB of RAM with 128GB onboard storage and a microSD card slot for memory expansion. There are two 50-megapixel cameras in front and the rear.
While the HMD Crest Max has the same display configuration and processor, it has more memory with 8GB of RAM and 256GB onboard storage. Another advantage it has over the HMD Crest is that it comes with three cameras on the rear: a 64-megapixel main, 5-megapixel ultra-wide, and 2-megapixel macro lens. In front, it has the same 50-megapixel camera.
Both devices come with IP52 rating, a 5,000mAh battery with a 33W adapter, 3.5mm headphone jack, Wi-Fi 5, dual SIM, and Bluetooth 5.0. They also run Android 14 OS upon unboxing. These two can also be repaired at home with a toolkit and a quick tutorial.
As for the pricing, the HMD Crest and HMD Crest Max are priced at $175 and $195, respectively. We’ll have to wait for an announcement on their US availability.
