After completing its acquisition of DirecTV, AT&T has immediately started taking advantage of its new purchase, specifically by launching a new promotion that should allow the wireless carrier to lure DirecTV customers into its fold.
Indeed, the second biggest wireless carrier in the United States has just unveiled a new special offer to DirecTV customers, offering them $500 in credits if they decide to switch to AT&T. The $500 in credits is broken down as follows: $300 bill credit for each line of service ported with a new handset bought via AT&T Next, and the remaining $200 serves as credit for a qualified device trade in. AT&T is also making these credits available to subscribers of the U-verse TV service that the wireless carrier had already provided before it successfully closed its acquisition of DirecTV.
Plus, AT&T has also announced that, as a bonus, subscribers of DirecTV or U-verse TV who decide to switch to an AT&T line of service will also get to enjoy 10,000 Plenti points if they opt to merge their DirecTV or U-verse TV service and AT&T wireless service into a single bill. For those who are not familiar with American Express’ Plenti points, they refer to reward points that consumers can redeem against the services of a select group of participating business establishments and service providers, which include Exxon, Mobil, Macy’s, and RiteAid. Moreover, it should be noted that the new special offer from AT&T is also made available to business customers, now only consumer subscribers.
But wait -- there is more. Subscribers who choose to join AT&T TV services together with qualified AT&T wireless services on a singly monthly AT&T bill will get to enjoy a $10 monthly discount to their combined bill.
It should also be noted that the All in One Plan has just been recently launched. This plan lets new DirecTV subscribers to avail of a package that merges wireless and TV services at a discounted rate. This marks the first time an offer such as this has been provided for all customers based within the US. The All in One Plan already includes HD and DVR functionality for four TV receivers; unlimited voice calls and unlimited text messaging for four smartphone lines of service; and 10 gigabytes of shareable data for $200 per month for one year.
