Cricket Wireless, the prepaid brand of AT&T, has recently announced that beginning on November 5th, it will be adding more data to its most in-demand mobile plans. As stated in its official press release, the high speed data buckets for users with the carrier’s $30 a month plan will be adjusted automatically to 2 gigabytes of data from the previous 1 gigabyte. As for the $40 a month plan, what was once 4 gigabytes of data will soon become 5 gigabytes.
Cricket Wireless also took the opportunity to announce that its Unlimited 2 plan has returned. Moreover, current and new customers of the Unlimited 2 plan are free to get up to four additional lines of service with unlimited data for only $25 a month per line. It should be noted though that for the Unlimited 2 plan, the mobile operator may have to “prioritize” the user’s data especially if the customer goes beyond the 22 gigabytes of data per line per month threshold and in times of network congestion. Furthermore, maximum data speed is set at 3 mbps, while video streaming is at SD quality (which is around 480 p).
AT&T’s prepaid arm is also resurrecting the 2 for the $80 a month Unlimited offer on the Unlimited 2 plan. Cricket Wireless had first introduced this special deal back in July earlier this year, and the offer basically delivers unlimited high speed data for a pair of lines of service for $80 monthly. At that time, the deal was made available for a limited time only, but thankfully, the prepaid carrier has decided to bring it back.
For good measure, Cricket Wireless is also adding mobile hotspot to its customers’ Unlimited and Unlimited 2 plans for $10 a month. Interested parties better be aware though that in order to take full advantage of this mobile hotspot deal, they will have to own compatible devices. As for mobile users who signed up for unlimited plans, they will get to enjoy 8 gigabytes of mobile hotspot data usage on a monthly basis. Beyond that 8 gigabytes of mobile hotspot data usage though, tethering speeds will be reduced to 128 kbps for the remainder of the customer’s billing cycle.
