Back in 2017, Huawei introduced the Kirin 970 processor, which led to speculations that its successor could be unveiled soon this year. However, most of the speculations are now over!
The Chinese technology giant, Huawei, has invited the media for its IFA 2018 keynote. It was announced that the event will be held in Berlin, Germany, on August 31, 2018. The company will likely continue its tradition of introducing features that certainly will appear later on phones that eventually make it stateside. It’ll also be likely that they will be announcing their latest flagship mobile chipset, the HiSilcon Kirin 980, built on the 7nm FinFET process.
In last year’s big reveal, Huawei shared that the Kirin 970, would be used to power up the company’s high-end line up of smartphones Mate 10 and P10 series.
The first phones with the Kirin 980 SoC (system-on-chip), are expected to be the Huawei Mate 20 and Huawei Mate 20 Pro, which many attendees anticipate will be previewed during the IFA 2018 presentation. Adding to this, rumors floating around due to a recent leak from a Chinese website - ITHome, reported Huawei's Kirin 980 chipset is going to launch with Mate 20 at IFA 2018. All this said, there is a good reason to assume that Huawei’s new chipset, the Kirin 980, is ready to be introduced!
According to Huawei, the Kirin 980 by TSMC, will have a maximum clock speed of 2.8GHz for the four powerful Cortex-A77 cores, and will also feature four Cortex-A55 cores for peak energy and power-efficiency for basic tasks.
Moreover, the massive 6.9-inch OLED display that is installed in Huawei Mate 20 and mate 20 Pro, manufactured by Samsung, has a lot of fans excited as it is being said that the Mate 20 will feature a dual-camera, and the Mate 20 Pro may have the updated triple-camera from the Huawei P20 Pro. Many fans are crossing their fingers in hopes that the Mate 20 Pro may even have the amazing 42-megapixel triple-camera setup, as its main feature.
Nothing has been 100% confirmed, but it is very likely that attendees will get a lot more than they expect at IFA 2018.
