If you are an owner of an Android device, you are in for a little holiday treat from Hulu. The online video service company is offering a limited selection of TV episodes free of charge during the holiday season.
This offer is exclusively on the Hulu app for Android only, which users can get from Google Play. As a matter of fact, it was Google who made the announcement about the special offer via the official Android Twitter account.
While a lot of Android users will no doubt be excited with the prospect of watching episodes of their favorite TV show for free, they need to know that Hulu will not be offering entire seasons completely free of charge.
Instead, users will get three free episodes of a variety of popular shows from the most recent season. Sure, you are not getting a whole season, but still, it is quite a nice offer from the online video service company. You have to consider that in order to watch any content from Hulu on your mobile device, you would need to sign up for at least a premium Hulu Plus account.
Also, you also need to know in advance which of the TV shows you follow are available for free at Hulu. This is because the company's mobile app does not have a section that exclusively shows the free episodes.
However, the app does have a section called "The Joy of the Seasons: Hulu's Picks." Some of the shows listed in this section are available for free, but they are combined with those that would require a Hulu Plus account in order to be viewed on mobile devices.
Based on Google's announcement on Twitter, the TV shows that are on tap for the holiday season include Black-ish, Brooklyn Nine Nine, Constantine, The Flash, Gotham, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, The Mindy Project, Nashville, Once Upon A Time, Red Band Society, South Park, and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
The only TV show that is not bound the three-episode rule is Nashville. Hulu is offering the first 5 episodes of the third season of the series, plus episodes 7 through 9.
Others may see this special offer as just an invitation (or free trial run) for users to sign up for a full subscription at Hulu. If you are one of those interested, a Hulu Plus will cost you $8 each month. But this subscription though will already give you access to recent TV shows from the major broadcast networks, as well as older shows like The X-Files or Scrubs.
