Here is some good news for owners of iPhone 8 devices that have experienced unresponsive display issues with their third party screens -- Apple has just rolled out a new iOS 11.3.1 update, which comes with a fix for the display glitches plaguing a number of units that have recently installed iOS 11.3.
It was nearly a month ago when Apple had started to make iOS 11.3 available to all users that own compatible iPhone models. But right after the deployment of the update, a few iPhone 8 owners began to complain that units that feature third party displays are becoming unresponsive to the touch, soon after downloading and installing the iOS 11.3 update.
The newest update roll out from Apple should take care of the unresponsive issues on iPhone 8 units with third party screens. However, nobody knows for sure yet if the latest iOS 11.3.1 update will address the issue regarding repairs that involve genuine replacement Apple screens. Almost a couple of weeks ago, it was reported that genuine replacement displays for the iPhone 8, the iPhone 8 Plus, and the iPhone X are exhibiting problems related to their automatic brightness levels, especially after being placed by third party repair service providers.
Numerous reports have suggested that the issues with the genuine replacement screens seem to be connected to units that have been updated to iOS 11.1, iOS 11.2, and iOS 11.3. A few tech experts have even made mention of a possible connection with the Error 53 issue that had hit headlines some time back in 2016. For those who need refreshing, Error 53 referred to instances wherein the iPhone device’s Touch ID would be deactivated when the fingerprint scanner is repaired or replaced.
Still, unresponsive display issues aside, Apple users should still take note of the features brought on by the release of the iOS 11.3.1 update. Perhaps the most notable is the improvement with regards to the security of iPhone and iPad tablet devices. And of course, the update also introduces some new fixes for minor bugs.
Apple is also busy working on a developer and public beta version for the next update, which is designated as iOS 11.4. It may be too early to tell for sure, but it would be reasonable to expect the iOS 11.4 update to be rolled out either in late May or some time in early June.
