We might be seeing another phenomenal game in Mr Jump. Launched just four days ago in Apple's App Store, the iOS game has since racked up 5 million downloads. On its first day, it managed an impressive 1 million downloads.
Mr Jump was developed 1Button, a gaming firm based in France. Mr Jump is proof that you do not need sophisticated graphics and complex game plots to be successful in the world of mobile games. The Mr Jump game certainly is as simple as it comes. Designed as a one button type of game, it only requires the player to tap their mobile devices in order to make the Mr Jump character jump over obstacles. As for the sideways movement, Mr Jump already does this by himself. How high Mr Jump leaps up simply depends on how long the player taps his or her mobile device.
For now, the game only has 12 levels, with each level having a distinct pattern by which players have to jump through. The fun of course is in figuring out and becoming familiar with the pattern so that you can jump your way to the next level. As the levels get higher, the obstacles also multiply, with some changes on the pattern, so players have to really be sharper while going through the levels.
The Mr Jump game can be downloaded for free from the App Store. However, it does come with in-game advertisements. Users who prefer their Mr Jump game free from ads, they will have to get the paid version, which comes with a price of $1.99.
Now, if users can not get to the next level (or are too lazy to bother giving that difficult level another try), they and also elect to pay $0.99 to unlock the next level. But seriously, folks, where is the fun in that?
The Mr Jump game is the product of the collective mind of Jeremie Francone, and co-founders Thomas Castel and Alexandre Konieczny. All they wanted was to create a game character that should be easy for any user (whether old or young) to play. The creators did not want players to feel as if they had to spend money in order to win, but at the same time, as the game's creators, they also had to earn money for themselves, which is tricky considering that the game is free. So what they did was set up the game so that it would provide options for players. Hence, those who do not want to spend another buck can just play through each level. While those who want to get to another level the faster way also have the option of paying extra to advance.
