Yet to be publicly announced, the Lumia 830 will be the next upper mid-range device to be released by Nokia, which is now owned by Microsoft. Like any other anticipated new phone model, the Lumia 830 has its own share of rumors and leaks associated with it. For instance, last July, a series of photos were posted on the Chinese website Weibo, purportedly showing the phone's exterior, specifically its aluminum frame and polycarbonate rear side.
This time, a new set of images have recently surfaced in the Internet. Apparently, the Nokia Lumia 830 was caught passing through Brazil's Anatel certification, the South American nation's equivalent to the United States' Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
Anatel's photos show a device that's colored black and has Nokia branding, ports on the top side for headphones and microUSB, capacitive buttons on the front side, and circular camera housing on the rear side.
Aside from the photos, documents that contain information about the unreleased Nokia phone were also leaked. From those we can glean that the Lumia 830 has dimensions of 139.4 mm by 70.7 by 8.5 mm. This makes the latest Lumia version considerably thinner than its predecessors.
Also, according to the photos and documents (which included a manual), the exact model name is RM-985. However, there's a strong possibility that the international commercial release name for the smartphone will still be Lumia 830. Based on the accompanying manual, the new Nokia phone will also feature a removable rear cover, a replaceable battery, and a microSD card.
There's not much information about exact specifications present in the documents, but the photo do suggest a lot. For instance, the photos show a camera housing that's reminiscent of the Lumia 1020's. This could mean that the phone may feature a PureView camera, as suggested by earlier rumors. On top of that, the device appears to have a dedicated camera button. As for the capacitive buttons, they look to be more hardware-based, as opposed to being software-based or on-screen. The phone also has a label that states "Microsoft Mobile" -- although on the front side, the device is still branded as a Nokia product.
The Lumia 830 is rumored to have a 4.5- to 4.7-inch display screen that features a resolution of at least 720p to 1080p. The hardware is still unknown as of this writing, but industry experts are predicting that the phone will either have a Snapdragon 800 or 801 processor.
The Nokia Lumia 830 is expected to be unveiled by Microsoft during a scheduled press event in Berlin on September 4th of this year. The said press event is conducted in relation with the Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin (IFA), an international exhibition where some of the most well-known global brands will be introducing their newest products. Aside from the Lumia 830, another device -- the Lumia 730 -- is also expected to be seen.
