ROK Mobile, the mobile virtual network operator that runs on the networks of national carriers Verizon Wireless, AT&T and Sprint, has recently revealed that it is now discontinuing its plans under Verizon and Sprint, as reported by Prepaid Phone News. The announcement was made by way of a letter sent out to its distribution partners.
In this letter, the prepaid MVNO (read more about the operator from our official 2018 review) also confirmed that activations will only be made available online and via AT&T’s network. This latest development should also lead to the discontinuation of all new customer activations through indirect retail channels.
It should be noted, however, that the retailers’ ability to receive ROK Mobile payments (for transactions that include refills, top ups, and replenishments, among many others) will not be affected. According to the prepaid mobile service provider, it will still continue its residual compensation program for the entire tenure of any mobile user activated in the location of the retailer.
As seen on the official website of ROK Mobile right now, the only wireless plans shown available are those on AT&T’s network. They are:
Note that the two plans outlined above already come with free international voice calls, ROK Rewards, and a SIM card (free of charge). ROK Mobile has stated that its Family Telemedicine and Pharmacy Savings features are still included with the plans.
It goes without saying that ROK Mobile customers on Verizon Wireless and Sprint networks will have to deal with the changes. So what happens next for them? For existing subscribers, their accounts are grandfathered, plus they get the option of keeping their mobile plans if they want to (dealers can still facilitate top ups for them).
