Sprint is really bringing it on in trying to grab away its competitors' customers. Starting today, the carrier will be reimbursing all of the costs when a customer switches from a rival network to Sprint. These costs include early termination fees as well as whatever remaining payments there are on phone installment plans. And it will not matter how much is owed, Sprint will shoulder everything.
This limited-time only deal should certainly attract defecting customers from other networks. Some may even consider this offer a life saver. Customers simply need to turn in their current handset, join Sprint, and the carrier will take care of the switching costs.
Specifically, Sprint will reimburse the switching costs within a period of 15 days of the customer successfully registering online, and furnishing a bill that contains the early termination charge or device balance due. The online registration must be completed at Sprint's website, wherein customers are asked to upload a copy of the bill that displays the costs to be reimbursed within 60 days of activation.
Speaking of activation, customers must activate a device on Sprint Easy Pay, iPhone for Life Plan, Sprint Lease, or pay the full retail price with a new line of service.
Of course, customers are also required to turn in the smartphones they were using for their previous carrier. The handsets that are turned in must be in good working condition in order to qualify. To make things convenient for customers, they are sent a prepaid return kit via mail.
After completing the online registration, the award is paid via American Express Reward Card.
Sprint has always employed very aggressive, even unusual tactics when it comes to grabbing customers away from rival wireless carriers. In December of last year for instance, the carrier introduced a deal that offers to cut the bills in half of any customer from competitors Verizon Wireless and AT&T who switches to Sprint. And just like in this latest limited-time only deal, the Cut Your Bill in Half promo requires switching customers to produce a bill and upload it to Sprint's website (or hand-deliver them to any Sprint store). Sprint had also launched another promo in which it offered to cover the early termination fees up to $350 in the form of a prepaid Visa gift card.
Now, Sprint is really going to extremes, which no doubt will make some people wonder if the carrier is desperate to attract customers. Be that as it may, the offer does look pretty enticing, especially for those who still owe payments to their current carrier. There are a few caveats of course, but all in all, it is a really gutsy move on the part of Sprint. Now we will just to wait and see how its competitors will counter this move.
