It appears that Sprint has just introduced a new limited time special offer that promises one whole year of unlimited voice call minutes, text messaging, and data -- absolutely free of charge -- to those customers who decide to switch from Verizon Wireless, AT&T, and T-Mobile to Sprint’s network. This latest promotional deal is made available until June 30th and applies to five lines of service for customers who bring their own devices and SIM cards. Plus, the fourth biggest wireless carrier in the United States has opted not to place any activation charge.
Of course, some interested parties would want to know if there is any catch. For starters, those availing of the offer will have to sign up for Auto Pay, too. Also, the hotspot data is capped to 10 gigabytes each month for every line of service, and customers should know that the rebate is applied at the end of a couple of monthly billing cycles. Lastly, those who avail of the deal will become qualified for a new handset from Sprint after October 1st of this year, and users who choose to upgrade before October 1st will not be allowed to keep their free mobile plan.
According to officials from Sprint, the mobile operator intriguingly has no intentions of aggressively promoting the special offer. Instead, the company is hoping to attract new sign ups without having to resort to launching expensive promotional campaigns. It does make sense for the carrier not to spend so much, and besides, in the ongoing unlimited data wars, any deal that involves unlimited inclusions is bound to attract some attention from customers, especially so for a mobile operator as visible and as well known as Sprint.
Still, with a wave of new subscribers expected to come in, does Sprint have any worries with regards to a potential congested network? It goes without saying that with carriers here and there trying to one up each other with their respective unlimited offers, they better back those deals up with enough network capacity. In Sprint’s case, it is confident that it has the resources and the infrastructure in place to handle the influx of new sign ups.
Sprint is already claiming that its newest unlimited promo will allow any mobile user to enjoy savings of about $2,160 in a twelve month period, specifically when switching four lines of service from the Big Red. The next few days or weeks should be interesting, in terms of how Verizon Wireless, AT&T, or T-Mobile will respond.
