T-Mobile's prepaid customers under a Simple Choice plan will soon be able to take advantage of the carrier's data rollover program. That is because the carrier will officially start to make Data Stash available to Simple Choice prepaid customers this coming Sunday, March 22nd.
T-Mobile first introduced its Data Stash program back in December of last year (it was officially launched a month later in January of this year). This program allows customers to roll over any unused data from one month to another, essentially providing subscribers with bonus data after completing a month wherein they do not use up all their data allotment. The Data Stash program was previously only made available to Simple Choice postpaid subscribers. Now, prepaid customers can get to enjoy it too.
According to T-Mobile, every prepaid customer under a qualifying Simple Choice plan will begin with a Starter Stash with up to 10 gigabytes of 4G LTE data. When customers use up the 10 gigabytes, they will start rolling forward to their unused data for use up to a full year automatically and without any additional charge.
The last few months have seen wireless customers bearing witness to a kind of rollover war between T-Mobile and AT&T, which also launched its own Data Rollover plan in January earlier this year. AT&T's rollover plan though is sort of limited compared to T-Mobile's. With AT&T's Data Rollover plan, any data that is not consumed during the rollover month can not be used in the next billing period. T-Mobile's Data Stash program, on the other hand, lets customers roll over their unused data for a full year. That is why many industry watchers consider T-Mobile's rollover program the more advantageous one compared to AT&T's.
T-Mobile has certainly been on a roll in the last few years, as far as promotions and special offers are concerned. The carrier is clearly making aggressive efforts to capture new subscribers, even at the expense of its competitors, who often find their own customers snatched by T-Mobile.
As for the expansion of its Data Stash program, T-Mobile is also trying its best to give its Simple Choice subscribers a reason to stay. But even without Data Stash, Simple Choice already offers some nifty options, including unlimited calls, unlimited text messaging, and data (1 gigabyte of 4G LTE), starting at $50 per month. The data rollover program, though, gives some prepaid customers, especially those who can not always use up their data allotment, a chance to save some unused data and then utilize them in the near future.
