Are you currently a T-Mobile subscriber under a Simple Choice plan that offers 5 gigabytes of LTE data (or less) every month? You could be one of the lucky people who will receive a complimentary upgrade to unlimited LTE data.
Apparently, T-Mobile has started sending out SMS messages to selected customers, informing them that they will receive the bonus data allotment boost sometime between April 1st until the end of the year.
The great thing about this special offer is that subscribers do not have to do anything to qualify. They just need to be a Simple Choice user on a plan of not more than 5 gigabytes of LTE data each month.
If a subscriber gets selected by T-Mobile to get the bonus data allotment, the upgrade will be applied to his account automatically, with absolutely zero extra charges. The upgrade period ends, which is most likely December 31st of this year, the lucky subscribers who got upgraded will see their accounts revert back to their previous LTE data allotments.
As reported by TMoNews, T-Mobile has not defined any clear criteria for choosing the lucky recipients of the bonus data allotment. However, the carried did state that it would only be selecting a small percentage of their customer base. Subscribers who are currently under the $60 3 gigabyte plans or the $70 5 gigabyte plans are likely to get selected.
As expected of any special offer, there is always a catch or two. With this T-Mobile deal, you do not get all the benefits of the carrier's $80 Unlimited LTE plan. For instance, you will not get a free subscription to Rhapsody unRadio, nor will you get your tethering allowance increased.
Also, subscribers will not be able to keep their Data Stash rollover data as part of the upgrade. T-Mobile does give its subscribers the option of declining the bonus data allotment. All they have to do is reply to the SMS notification.
If the month of March passes by and you have not received any SMS message from T-Mobile, it is a good bet that you were not selected for this limited-time only offer. But you do have the option of upgrading to unlimited data for $80 a month. Or you can just wait for another T-Mobile special offer -- who knows, there might be one coming in the next few months.
