The Big Red will be adding an extra gigabyte of data to some of its More Everything plans, specifically those that range from 1 gigabyte to 3 gigabytes, or $40 a month to $60 a month. Essentially, the extra gigabyte of data is equivalent to a discount in the amount of $10 in selected Verizon Wireless plans.
Aside from from adding 1 gigabyte to some of its plans, the biggest wireless carrier in the United States is also allowing subscribers of More Everything plans with 6 gigabytes or more to bring additional smartphones via Verizon Edge, and then pay the discounted network access fees that used to be available only to subscribers of plans with 10 gigabytes or more.
All of these new offers will begin to take effect on Thursday this week, and will be open to both existing and new subscribers.
Perhaps these latest developments are an indication that Verizon Wireless is indeed making an effort to retain its current customers and curb its rising churn rate. In the later part of January this year, the wireless carrier revealed that it had gained 2 million new subscriptions, but its customer turnover rate has increased. In fact, it is the highest it has been in more than two years.
Verizon Wireless has stated that it will not go as far as attracting certain low-end subscribers, but as the aforementioned new offers show, the carrier is willing to introduce promos and discounts like what Sprint and T-Mobile are aggressively doing.
Still, the extra gigabyte on some of the More Everything plans should be good news, at least for Verizon's customers, especially those who are into video and gaming (which takes up bandwidth).
On top of all that, Verizon Wireless has also decided to create new tiers of More Everything plans. The new tiers now include a 6 gigabyte plan that costs $70 per month, a 12 gigabyte plan that costs $110 per month, a 14 gigabyte plan that costs $120 per month, and a 16 gigabyte plan that costs $130 per month.
Meanwhile, the carrier's Verizon Edge plan allows subscribers to pay a fee every month for two years to cover the cost of their handset, instead of paying the full retail price upfront. Those who avail of the Edge plan get to enjoy a discount on their device-access fees, or the fees they pay so that they can connect their devices to the Big Red's network.
As for customers who are under a more pricey 6 gigabyte or more plan, they pay a lower fee of only $15 every month. Those who are under the less expensive 4 gigabyte or less plan play only $25 monthly. Before, the cutoff used to be 10 gigabytes, but this adjustment is only open for a limited time.
