The latest Moto X has been available from Verizon Wireless for more than a month now. But today, the carrier is releasing a new exclusive version of the smartphone that should delight football fans in America.
This version of the Moto X comes with a rear cover rendered in football leather. The carrier is offering this exclusive in its stores and online for just $119.99 (after a $50 on-contract rebate).
The timing of this release is just perfect. We are already deep into the 95th season of the National Football League (NFL), and the league is as popular as ever. With the football leather Moto X, Verizon should be able to capture the crazed fans of the sport, as well as those who just find the football-inspired design right up their alley.
When the 2014 Moto X was first released, buyers had the option of going for the version that sports a wooden rear cover or the one that features a regular leather rear cover. Now, they have a third option in the football leather version.
But it should be noted that because it is exclusive to Verizon Wireless, the football leather edition is not listed on Moto Maker. This means that those who are interested in buying the device will not be able to customize their phones. Thus, the unit they will get will sport the default design for the football leather edition, which comes with a black front.
Apart from the specially designed rear cover, this new version of the Moto X essentially shares the same specifications as the regular 2014 Moto X. Which means buyers can expect the same 5.2-inch full HD display screen complemented by a 13-megapixel rear camera. The processor is the same 2.5 GigaHertz Snapdragon 801 processor supported with 2 gigabytes of random access memory (RAM) and 16 gigabytes (or 32 gigabytes) of internal storage. The battery is still the same 2300 mAh battery. Software-wise, the device runs on Android 4.4.4 KitKat (an Android 5.0 Lollipop update could be available any day now).
As mentioned earlier, the football leather edition of the Verizon 2014 Moto X is available for $119.99 on a two-year agreement. If you want to get it through Verizon Edge, it will cost you $22.91 per month. If you want to pay the full retail price, you're gonna have to fork out $550. Want to know more about Verizon deals?
