Verizon recently introduced a new Single Line plan that allows its subscribers to enjoy unlimited voice calls and unlimited texting for a monthly fee of $60.00. Under this new plan, customers also get to make use of up to 2 gigabytes of free data.
In a statement released through its official website, Verizon stated that this Single Line plan is specifically targeted to smartphone users who are using only one line. The carrier was quick to add though that single line subscribers who want to share voice and data between more than two lines may still avail of MORE Everything plans.
Aside from enjoying unlimited calls and unlimited text messages, customers who subscribe to the new Single Line plan also get 5 gigabytes of free cloud storage, that is if they download and install the Verizon Cloud application.
At first glance, this latest Verizon offering seems ideal for users who only want to use their phones to call and text, as opposed to also browsing the Internet. But under this plan, subscribers are allowed Internet access (up to 2 gigabytes of free web data), which should allow them to indulge in their usual online activities, especially accessing their favorite social media websites.
Verizon, however, will charge an additional fee for data overage -- $15.00 per gigabyte used beyond the allowed 2 gigabytes, to be exact. In other words, once customers have used up the free 2 gigabyte data, they will have to pay $15.00 for every gigabyte used thereafter.
As for existing Verizon Edge users, the carrier also confirmed that they will get a monthly discount of $10.00 on the Single Line plan.
While Verizon's new plan should excite customers, it does have some limitations. For one, the Single Line plan does not apply to international calling. Plan users will have to pay the normal tariff rates. Additionally, the new plan will only apply to smartphone users. This means that basic phone users will not be able to avail of the plan. The same goes to tablet users too. For customers who use more than one type of mobile device, Verizon's Single Line plan may not be right up their alley. They might do well to avail of the carrier's MORE Everything plan instead.
Despite the limitations, customers who do decide to avail of the Single Line plan have much to take advantage of. There's the network coverage for one thing. Verizon is considered the largest 4G LTE network in the United States. The carrier's 4G network is 100% LTE, the only one of its kind that's fully LTE. On top of that, Verizon's reach is undoubtedly vast -- the carrier covers over 97% of American users. As of now, Verizon offers roughly twice the 4G LTE coverage compared to any other network.
To sign up for the Single Line plan, customers can either visit Verizon's official website, go to any Verizon retail store, or call the carrier's Customer Service number. Those who currently have existing Verizon plans and are looking to upgrade or change to the Single Line plan can do so by visiting the nearest Verizon retail store or calling Customer Service.
