ZTE recently unveiled the ZTE ZMAX, its newest Android smartphone, and the device is set to be carried by T-Mobile.
The latest offering from the China-based phone maker comes with a 5.7-inch 1280 by 720 display screen. It also features an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 1.6-megapixel front-facing camera.
With regards to hardware specifications, the ZTE ZMAX uses a 1.2 GigaHertz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor. It has 16 gigabytes of internal storage and a microSD slot (expandable to 32 gigabytes). Software-wise, the phablet runs on Android 4.4. Other features include 2 gigabytes of random access memory (RAM), Dolby Digital Sound, and near field communications (NFC) capability.
But what really stands out is the device's generous size. The full dimensions of the ZTE ZMAX are 6.4 inches tall, 3.3 inches wide, and 0.35 inches thick. Its battery is similarly huge -- clearly a phone this size also warrants a large 3400 mAh battery, which is considered one of the highest-capacity batteries in the market and should last two days on average.
Beginning on September 24th of this year, the ZTE ZMAX will be available on T-Mobile for
$0 downpayment and two years worth of monthly payments of $10.50, which amounts to $252.00 after 24 months.
All things considered, it is not a bad price for an Android unit that does not skimp on size. And large handsets are becoming trendy nowadays (just look at the larger new iPhones), and ZTE is cleverly joining in on the fun.
But the majority of big smartphones today are for the high-end market, which means they will likely command high prices. That is why the release of ZTE ZMAX via T-Mobile may be considered so impeccably timed. After all, what better way to increase appreciation of phablets than by giving people one that is affordable.
And when it is used on T-Mobile's nationwide LTE network with Simple Global and Wi-Fi Un-Leashed, users of the ZTE ZMAX should be able to experience unparalleled worldwide coverage.
