American Express is making it easier for you to insure your flagship device. If you have a flagship or foldable smartphone that costs between $1,000 and $1,800, you can secure your device with Amex’s Cell Phone Protection Program.
The program was launched in April. The good news about this is that you don’t need to manually enroll your device since the plan automatically covers devices that are listed on the paid wireless bills of the previous month using an eligible American Express account.
The Amex cards that will offer the Cell Phone Protection Package include the following:

Centurion Card
Delta Reserve
Delta Reserve for Business
Platinum Card
Platinum Card for Ameriprise Financial
Platinum Card for Goldman Sachs
Platinum Card for Morgan Stanley
Platinum Card for Schwab
Platinum Delta SkyMiles
Platinum Delta SkyMiles Business
Once you are in, your device is covered for two claims over each 12-month period. You will be reimbursed the amount that you need to repair an insured phone. But if your device gets stolen, you will receive $800 (after a $50 deductible) from Amex. While this might not be enough to replace your device, it can help get some money back.
Amex’s Cell Phone Protection Program is not qualified for devices that are connected to a prepaid account, part of a fleet, purchased for business, or leased. To know more about the program, visit this page.
