AT&T will be making a donation to help students and families across the country.
As revealed in a release today, Ma Bell will be contributing over $10M and its employee volunteers to distribute free laptops to recipients. Together with Compudopt and Human-I-T, 26,000 computers will be given to those in need. Apart from these devices, these groups will also be offering digital inclusion programs and digital literacy resources.
This move is part of AT&T’s $2 billion commitment to help address the digital divide. The commitment was announced in 2021 so AT&T can help communities get the computers, connectivity, and digital skills they need to succeed in school and life.
Over 1,000 laptops were distributed by AT&T employees, Compudopt, and Human-I-T to recipients in Dallas, Detroit, and Atlanta.
