AT&T has just extended its equipment installment plans (EIP) from 30 to 36 months. This way, customers can enjoy their devices longer and not have to worry about the 30-month payment option for paying for their new phone.
As revealed in a report, all new phone payment purchases going forward will be covered by the new 36-month period. This means that if you still have the 30-month installment plan, you can continue to keep it at that duration.
In addition to extending the number of months covered by its EIP purchases, AT&T continues to offer a free iPhone and $700 credit towards a new phone. This strategy seems to have paid off for the carrier as it was able to clock in its best quarter in ten years. Because of these offers, AT&T was able to add 823,000 wireless postpaid subscribers.
Now that AT&T has prolonged the EIP duration, it might attract more customers to make the decision to switch to their network. After all, they are the only ones who are currently offering this.
