According to AT&T's official company blog, the tool lets teams across the company create custom AI agents to handle repetitive, time-consuming work. Think of it like having a digital helper that can connect different systems, move data around, and execute multi-step processes while you focus on more important things.
The company is already seeing results with its first live deployment. AT&T Business teams built AI agents that handle customer service update requests, sync data across multiple systems, and install information automatically in real time. The result? Faster service for customers and less busy work for employees.
Here's how it works in practice: If a network issue pops up, an engineer could set up an AI agent to identify where the problem is, pull up recent system changes, check for known bugs, and open a support ticket. Another agent could then suggest a fix and even write code to patch the issue. The engineer watches over everything to make sure it's done correctly, and a third agent wraps it all up with a summary report for future reference.
AT&T emphasizes that humans stay in control throughout the entire process, with required checkpoints where employees review what the AI is doing. All actions are logged, and the company says it's built in data privacy and security measures at every step.
The company recently scored wins on two industry AI benchmarks—Spider 2.0 and GSMA Open-Telco—showing it's not just using AI but actively developing new AI technologies. With Ask AT&T Workflows now available company-wide, AT&T is positioning itself to let employees automate their own workflows rather than waiting for the IT department to build solutions for them.
