Cox is digging its toes in the mobile industry once again. The company shut down its mobile division just two years after its launch in 2010. And today, they are making another attempt to offer Cox Mobile to their internet customers.
The new Cox Mobile offers 4G and 5G coverage to customers with “on-the-go WiFi hotspot” access. The initial plan is to offer a “Pay As You Gig” plan that lets customers pay for the data they need. There will also be an unlimited data plan called “Gig Unlimited.”
According to The Wall Street Journal, the unlimited plan will start at $45. There will also be a $15/month for 1GB of data option with an additional GB after that.
As of this writing, Cox offers cable service in several states. Once the new Cox Mobile service will launch, it will be available in three markets initially: Hampton Roads, VA, Omaha, NE, and Las Vegas, NV. The service will roll out to other markets throughout the year.
