Google has finally decided to listen to the requests of its customers.
For years, there has been a rising demand for Google to pay attention to users’ privacy and protection. And today, Google has released a short video that highlights its new “Protected by Android” branding.
The 50-second clip stays true to its name by letting you see how Google keeps you and your information safe. It also highlights how it screens and delists bad apps so you stay protected when you’re browsing on the Play Store. Once you find an app worth downloading, you have a guarantee in the form of Verified by Play Protect.
Another way Google is keeping its customers safe is by pushing monthly security updates on their Android devices. And while you keep your device up to date, you are also getting “non-stop security” protection.
The last feature highlighted in the video clip is giving location access permissions. You can only grant an app access to your location once the app is open.
As revealed by PhoneArena, Google has updated its Security & Privacy settings page by making this more unified. Once your device is running Android 13, you’ll be able to see Google’s “Protected by Android” branding.
You’ll also have a “Scan device” button on top that lets you see how well your phone’s security and privacy works.
There are many more things that Google is working on at the moment. And it’s likely that we’ll see these features come into fruition with the release of Android 13. It’s good to see that Google is finally taking user’s privacy and security seriously. You won’t be able to enjoy these features at least until August-September, when Google releases Android 13 to the public.
