AI on our phones is already getting the spotlight, thanks to Samsung’s newest devices. But if there’s another device that is revolutionizing the way we use our phones, it would be Google’s Pixel devices.
During the recent Google I/O event, the tech giant announced that its Pixel devices will soon be equipped with an AI-powered feature that can detect spam and scam calls. This functionality, called Sharpie, was already found in the code of Google’s latest beta Phone app version. When rolled out, it will be able to identify scam calls in real time.
The functionality is expected to be available on newer Pixel models, such as the Pixel 8 series and the upcoming Pixel 9 devices. Once the feature becomes available, users will need to manually activate it.
Right now, we still don’t know when Sharpie will officially roll out. But if it’s as good as it sounds, it will definitely be a gamechanger.
