Do you hate receiving random calls from strangers who found your number on Google? You’re not alone! And today, Google has some good news for you: Google will now allow users to have their personal data removed from a search.
The announcement, made via a blog post, shared that Google will now accept users to request for the removal of certain information from its search results. This includes phone numbers, email addresses, physical addresses, bank account and credit card numbers.
In addition to making the request, Google will tighten up its security measures to prevent identity theft. You can make a request to remove confidential log-in credentials that appear in Search.
As explained by PhoneArena, however, you may not expect this information to be erased right away. Once you send a removal request, Google will assess the information included in the website. This allows Google to ensure that the other information found on the site will not be limited, especially if they are useful.
Another thing that stops them from removing your information right away is whether the content is part of a public record found on government or official sites. If ever the information can be found on such platforms, your information will not be removed.
Google also points out that if you wish to have the information completely removed online, the best thing to do is to make a direct request with the hosting site.
