Android smartphone owners know the struggle of unlocking their device after an update. Since their device reboots after the update, they need to unlock it so they can ensure that the apps are running properly. But since updates usually take too long, many opt to schedule their phone update before they go to bed. This usually means that the phone stays locked until it’s time to get up the next day. Unfortunately, this can be detrimental to smartphone users since there are some apps that are not able to run so early in the morning and there could be important notifications that could take place.
Thankfully, Google is working on this issue. As reported by XDA, Google will be releasing a feature called “Resume on Reboot”. The new feature won’t require Android users to login after their device has successfully installed a new update. The way the feature works is that it stores the login information of the user and automatically unlocks the device after the update is completed.
In order to work, the smartphone needs to have a program called IRebootEscrow. According to the report, Google is testing the feature on the Pixel 4. It’s possible that the feature could be exclusive to flagship devices.
