Bottom line: if you're on AT&T, Verizon, or another network and want satellite messaging, it’s doable—but you’ll need to pick up the phone or drop into a store. The process takes a bit more effort than before, and experiences vary depending on who helps you.
But once it's set up, the service behaves just like it would if you were a T‑Mobile customer—with satellite 911 texting, location sharing, and basic messaging that works when cell towers can’t reach. If ease matters to you, and you're already on T‑Mobile, the signup hassle is totally avoided.
