In the wake of devastating floods that swept across Central Texas over the weekend, major wireless carriers have stepped up with support for impacted residents and first responders.
The severe weather brought heavy rainfall, flash floods, and rising rivers, displacing families and damaging homes throughout the region. As of this writing, the death toll has reached 100, with several others reportedly missing.
Here’s what the carriers are doing to provide assistance to those affected by the unfortunate incident:
As reported by T-Mobile, the company quickly mobilized its emergency teams and network resources to ensure service remained operational for customers.
T-Mobile’s Community Support teams deployed mobile charging stations, free Wi-Fi access, and supplies to shelters across the hardest-hit areas. They’re also offering free device charging and charging cables for anyone in need—not just T-Mobile customers.
Affected customers in select zip codes are getting unlimited talk, text, and data through June 20.
AT&T also launched emergency response efforts across Texas. According to its official disaster response page, the company deployed satellite-equipped emergency vehicles to assist first responders and is working to maintain connectivity in flooded regions.
Impacted AT&T customers in designated areas will automatically receive unlimited talk, text, and data through June 19.
Verizon, meanwhile, is offering similar relief. As shared in a press release, the carrier is providing unlimited calling, texting, and data for postpaid and prepaid customers in the affected counties through June 20.
Verizon’s mobile response units and emergency network teams are on the ground in Texas, supporting local agencies and providing essential network services.
They’ve also highlighted that customers on prepaid plans, including Total by Verizon and Straight Talk, will receive the same support.
With cell service proving essential during disasters, these relief efforts come at a crucial time.
