Your iPhone just got smarter (and easier) if you're a Google Fi customer. No need to sort voicemails through the Fi app anymore—starting June 24, Google Fi is rolling out visual voicemail directly into the Phone app you already use—just like Android users have been doing for years.
As reported by 9to5Google, this update means iPhone users can now play, share, and delete voicemails right from their Phone app, without seeing two separate notifications—one from Fi and one from Apple’s dialer. Full availability is expected by July 2.
That convenience comes with a deadline: after August 13, any voicemails you’ve saved in the Fi app will be gone. Google reminds users to back them up using Google Takeout before then.
Why this matters: Forms of voicemail specially managed by apps can feel clumsy on iPhones. This switch means fewer taps, fewer alerts, and a more familiar experience—the kind of smooth, blend-in update everyday users appreciate. It’s part of several recent improvements, including enhanced messaging support (RCS) and global 5G access, all rolled out as part of Fi’s 10th-anniversary upgrades.
Whether you're new to Fi or a long-time subscriber, this is a simple but satisfying change: voicemail now works where you'd expect it to, and that's good news for everyone.
