Peter Adderton’s MobileX prepaid MVNO has just secured a spot in the shelves of Walmart stores around the country. Adderton was one of the original founders of Boost Mobile. And now, he is working on launching MobileX in the US.
At the Mobile World Congress held in Las Vegas this week, the CEO revealed the new partnership with Walmart. Together with Walmart’s VP of merchandising for wireless, Mehrdad Akbar, the two announced the good news to the public:
“We’re excited to offer our customers a new way of approaching their mobile phone plans with the innovation, customization and reliability provided by MobileX.”
The good news is that you can now get a SIM card at Walmart for $9.88. Once you activate service on the MobileX app, the cost of the SIM card will be offset thanks to a $10 credit.
So how much do MobileX’s plans cost?
As The Mobile Report shared, MobileX has a la carte options that start at $4.08 per month. This comes with 1GB of service and no talk or text. This is a great option if you’re always at home and rely on Wi-Fi connection and services like internet calling and texting apps.
If you would like to add unlimited talk and text to that service, it will cost $8.58 per month. There’s also the additional $2.10 per GB of data that comes with a video optimizer.
One of the things that separate MobileX from other MVNOs is that it uses AI to learn how much data you use and how you use it. Once enough data has been collected, MobileX’s app will give an expert recommendation on a plan that gives you the best value. You can give MobileX’s data forecaster a try here.
Do note, however, that there is a 10-day “learning period,” which serves as a trial period that lets you try out the service. The AI data forecaster will learn more about your usage habits during this period and recommend a suitable option once this period is over.
MobileX only supports one line per account. If you will be porting in multiple lines, you will need to have each of these lines managed individually. To get started, you will need to bring a compatible device. The list includes the following:
iOS: Apple iPhone 6S or newer (except for iPhone 7 GSM)
Android: All Google Pixel models
Samsung: Samsung Galaxy S10 or newer, Galaxy A52 or newer
Motorola: Motorola Edge 20 or newer, Moto G 2020 or newer, ThinkPhone 2022
OnePlus: OnePlus 8T or newer
MobileX runs on Verizon’s networks. If you would like to know more about MobileX, visit this page.
