Verizon just made another move that may not sit well with long-time customers. The carrier has reportedly dropped its loyalty discount for customers on legacy postpaid plans, meaning some subscribers are now seeing higher monthly bills with little to no warning.
According to Android Authority, Verizon has been quietly removing $10 loyalty discounts from older accounts. These discounts were typically given to users who stuck with the same plan over time without switching or upgrading.
Many customers didn’t even know they had the discount—until it disappeared. While some affected users have been offered a “Verizon Access Discount” instead, that only applies to certain unlimited plans, and not everyone is eligible.
This change follows a pattern we've noticed in recent months. As we recently reported, Verizon had already raised its administrative fees to $4.59 per line—even for customers who were told their monthly prices would remain locked. So even if your base plan rate hasn’t changed, these behind-the-scenes increases are starting to add up.
To add to the confusion, Verizon appears to be preparing a new loyalty program. As reported by PhoneArena, the carrier is working on a replacement discount or incentive to “reward” loyal customers—though no official details or launch dates have been confirmed. Until then, subscribers who’ve lost their current loyalty discounts are left with higher bills and few answers.
It’s worth noting that Verizon hasn’t officially announced these changes, and customers are discovering the loss of the loyalty discount through bill changes or account notifications. The lack of transparency is frustrating for those who have stayed with the company for years, especially when the same customers are being hit with fee increases shortly after losing a discount.
While it's not uncommon for carriers to adjust pricing or phase out legacy benefits, doing so without clear communication can damage trust. If you're a Verizon customer on an older plan, now might be a good time to check your bill or contact support to see if you’ve been affected.
