Earlier, it was believed that T-Mobile was the victim of a new cyberattack or breach. But as it turns out, this was nothing but a temporary system glitch that affected a limited number of T-Mo’s customers.
Unfortunately, a glitch is still a glitch. And in this case, it exposed the sensitive information of less than 100 customers to other T-Mo subscribers.
According to The Mobile Report, T-Mobile’s planned overnight technology update resulted in this glitch. When customers used the official T-Mobile app, they were surprised to find a different name on their account.
Furthermore, it gave them access to other customers’ names, addresses, email addresses, and phone numbers. It also exposed the last four digits of their card and bank accounts.
Thankfully, the glitch was resolved right away. The first time the glitch was reported was around 3am ET. Three hours later, it appeared to have been fixed by the Un-carrier.
T-Mobile has not yet revealed how it plans to appease the customers affected by this temporary glitch.
