Google appears to be quietly rolling back its long-standing ban on call recording for Pixel phone users. The tech giant has updated its support pages to suggest that Pixel 6 and newer models may soon be able to record phone calls in certain regions.
According to Android Authority, Google previously stated that Pixel phones couldn't record calls at all. However, the company has now changed its support documentation to indicate that call recording may be available on Pixel 6 models and later, as long as users are in regions where the feature is legally permitted.
The feature appears to have already started appearing for some users in India, where one Reddit user reported seeing new recording options in their Phone app. However, the rollout seems limited for now, and it's unclear which other markets will eventually get access to the feature.
