Late last month, some AT&T customers alleged that a payment glitch has left them with empty bank accounts, prompting warnings for others to check their balances immediately. Today, a report from PhoneArena amplifies this concern.
According to the report, complaints began surfacing online after multiple charges for the same bill allegedly hit customers’ accounts at once. Several users took to Reddit to describe what happened.
One claimed, “They have charged me 5× … they took my entire paycheck. Bank can’t do anything because the charges are pending.” Another said, “3× had to cancel my card to get it to stop … this sucks and is not fair.”
Some believe the issue may be tied to Apple Pay, though AT&T has not confirmed the cause. The sudden and repeated withdrawals have left many scrambling to cover other expenses, with a few deciding to pay future bills through services like PayPal or Venmo to limit direct access to their bank accounts.
With no official fix announced yet, customers are advised to monitor their accounts closely and report any unexpected activity right away.
