Google Messages is getting an important feature.
In a report, Google will be adding emergency SOS via satellite connectivity directly to the app. The report says that the UI elements for the feature is currently being added to the native app.
For now, the SOS activity is a placeholder in the app. So it’s not yet official whether the upcoming Pixel phones will be getting satellite communication. But it’s a clear indication that Google plans to put the service inside the app.
Considering this is the default messaging app used on most Android devices, this will be a welcomed addition. We’re hoping that Google reveals more details about its plan for this feature since it will be one that many can really use.
Until more information gets revealed though, we’ll have to wait for an update.
