Microsoft recently updated Skype to include new improvements for mobile and PC use. With Skype version 8.80, users now have the ability to make emergency calls in the US.
With this new feature, you can make 911 calls using Skype on both your phone or PC. Not only that, your location gets automatically shared with emergency responders. At the time of this writing, the feature is disabled by default so that your privacy can be protected. But you can enable it in the settings section easily.
In addition to making 911 calls, Skype 8.80 also lets you zoom in on a screen share when you are on a video call. This is an important option to have, especially for those who are using their phones on a screen share.
Mobile users also have the option to use custom reactions. Skype has also made a couple of improvements on existing features– for example, you now have up to 5 minutes to record voice messages instead of just 2 minutes. Lastly, light mode will be applied on the background of a Skype call.
You can update your Skype app on your phone to get these new features. Emergency calling does not need an update but if it’s still not available on your app, you can try updating it.
