The Google Pixel 6a was recently opened for pre-orders. While the device won’t be available until July 28th, reviewers were already able to get their hands on the device early. And unfortunately, some of these devices are experiencing a problem that also occurred on the Google Pixel 6.
As reported by PhoneArena, some units allow unregistered fingerprints to unlock the device. This same problem plagued the Google Pixel 6 when it first rolled out. The problem that Pixel 6 users experienced, however, was due to problematic screen protectors. With the Pixel 6a, it looks like the issue occurs without the added screen accessory.
In its report, PhoneArena pointed out that the problem could be affecting non-retail units that Google sent out. This is because some recipients also reported receiving a sealed box with debris and scratches on the camera bezel and plastic back.
It’s important to note that not all Pixel 6a units are experiencing the problem. Hopefully, Google addresses the random fingerprint unlock issue before the device gets released to the public and those who pre-ordered it.
