AT&T is working on a new 5G Home Internet Gateway of its own.
According to The Mobile Report, the device model that will be available at AT&T is the Sagemcom BGW530-900. This is similar to the T-Mobile gateway model, the Sagemcom Fast 5688W. Both models share the same appearance: a tall, rectangular black box with a power button, two Ethernet ports, an inactive USB-C port, and a 12V power input. The only difference between these two is that the AT&T model has a barrel plug instead of the USB-C Power Delivery on the T-Mobile model.
As for its Wi-Fi connection, AT&T’s gateway device is an all-in-one device that handles cellular connections, routing, and Wi-Fi. Unfortunately, it doesn’t come with WiFi 6E or WiFi 7 support. The report shares that the gateway device supports 20MHz and 40MHz bandwidths.
Right now, the device hasn’t been officially announced by AT&T so we don’t exactly know for sure what it will look like when assembled. But if things go right, this is a huge improvement for AT&T’s move to adopt to 5G Home Internet.
