It looks like some T-Mobile customers are experiencing issues with their Samsung devices.
As The T-Mo Report shared, there are some customers who have lost service on their Samsung devices. Their experiences were shared on Reddit. The publication talked about an internal document that confirms the existence of a bug that disconnects existing service lines on Samsung devices.
According to the internal document, the bug affects customers who purchased their devices directly from Samsung’s website. This is because Samsung unintentionally activated internal eSIM on these devices before shipping them out. And this is what causes customers to get disconnected when they use their new device.
But because of the number of data breaches recently reported, users can’t help but be scared that they’re the latest victims of a SIM swapping attack. And since the issue occurs even with SIM protection enabled, it’s scary to think if the hackers were able to find a way around it.
The good news is that the internal document clears things up. It also gives customers the assurance that their phones were not hit by an attack.
It’s possible that T-Mobile has already fixed the issue since it is described in past tense in the document. The problem is from Samsung’s end and will hopefully be fixed before the Galaxy S23 series gets released. If you are among those affected by the issue, you can get in touch with T-Mobile for more assistance.
