A new report has revealed internal documents of T-Mobile’s upcoming change to its bill credit policy on its Equipment Installment Plans (EIP). According to the report, T-Mobile will no longer allow its customers to pay off their devices early and continue to have access to the bill credits on the account.
Prior to this change, T-Mobile customers were able to pay off their EIPs early and get to enjoy their bill credits over 24 months. But once this new policy is implemented, subscribers will lose any remaining bill credits on their account since the promotion will be forfeited.
While there’s no word on why the Un-carrier is implementing this change, The Mobile Report speculates that this could be to get rid of the customers who purchase a device under a promotion, pay them off, and sell the device again. But we don’t know for sure if this is what’s happening.
The good news is that if you purchased a device prior to July 1st, you will not be affected by this new change. The policy will only go into effect on devices purchased on or after July 1.
