Verizon customers can breathe a sigh of relief – the wireless giant quietly started handing out loyalty discounts again just days after announcing they would end the popular program that saves customers $10 to $20 per line monthly.
The rapid reversal follows intense customer backlash. As reported by Droid-Life, customers began receiving fresh loyalty discount offers within 24 hours of the initial outcry, suggesting many subscribers were ready to switch carriers over the changes.
The familiar "transfer PIN trick" is working again. Customers who request a port-out PIN through the My Verizon app are being offered loyalty discounts of up to $20 per line for 12 months. This method has worked for years by essentially telling Verizon you're considering switching carriers.
Verizon originally planned to eliminate all loyalty discounts starting September 1, 2025, to push customers toward their newer myPlan offerings. But online forums lit up with angry subscribers, and many began shopping for new carriers immediately.
To get these discounts, open the My Verizon app, go to "Edit Profile and Settings," and tap "Number Transfer Pin." This generates a code normally used for switching carriers and often triggers Verizon to offer a retention discount. While success isn't guaranteed, many customers report it still works.
The episode shows that customer power still matters in the wireless industry. When enough people threaten to take their business elsewhere, even the biggest carriers will listen. However, these discounts typically last only 12 months, and there's no guarantee Verizon won't try ending them again later.
