Verizon has just revealed that it has launched its 5G Ultra Wideband in San Diego. Prior to this announcement, the city only experienced fast cellular service in certain “parts of” the city like Mission Valley, Linda Vista, Kensington, and Banker’s Hill.
With this new development, subscribers in the city can enjoy high-band 5G signal. But again, there are some caveats that need to be known. For instance, any obstacles that may block the signals can slow down the speed of the network. If there are trees or other humans in the area, you can be downgraded to 4G LTE speeds.
And again, you will need to use a smartphone that supports Verizon’s 5G UW network. The phones currently on that list include Samsung’s Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, Galaxy S20 Ultra, Galaxy Note 10+, OnePlus 8, Motorola Edge+, and the LG V60 ThinQ.
With this rollout, San Diego marks as the 35th city to get Verizon’s 5G UW network.
