The Super Bowl LVIII weekend is over and the numbers are in– at least for Verizon. As revealed by Big Red, its customers in and around Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium used about 52.35 TB of data during the big event.
As reported by The Mobile Report, the spike in data use happened during kick-off and the half-time show of Usher. The report believes this was spent on social media and checking messages.
To share just how big 52 TB of data is, the report says it is enough for streaming 1080p video quality on Netflix non-stop for around a couple of years. Verizon also says that most of the users accessed its 5G UW network. This is an increase of 9.4 percent from those who attended the Super Bowl last year.
It’s important to note that not all of the attendees were Verizon subscribers. Big Red says that 50.5% of those who attended were their customers. There were 61,629 people who attended the event, which means that around 31,000 people were Verizon users.
We’ll have to wait for the numbers that other carriers reveal during Super Bowl weekend.
