Verizon has officially closed a $1 billion deal to buy a portion of Array Digital Infrastructure’s retained spectrum licenses, giving the carrier another completed transaction in its ongoing network asset push.
According to Array Digital Infrastructure’s press release, the deal closed on June 1, 2026, and covers spectrum licenses the company had previously agreed to sell to Verizon. In an earlier company filing, Array said the Verizon agreement involved certain AWS, Cellular, and PCS spectrum licenses. Array also said separate spectrum sales to T-Mobile worth $168 million, mainly tied to 700 MHz and 600 MHz, were completed in May.
For readers who do not track spectrum deals closely, this is essentially Verizon buying wireless airwaves that can be used as part of its network operations. The announcement itself did not spell out where Verizon plans to use the licenses or what customers should expect next, but it does confirm that the transaction has moved from agreement stage to done deal.
The seller’s focus in the announcement was less about Verizon’s customer plans and more about cashing in on remaining spectrum holdings. Array said the Verizon and T-Mobile transactions continue the company’s effort to monetize spectrum left over after the sale of its wireless operation, which closed on August 1, 2025.
Array President and CEO Anthony Carlson said the company has made “significant progress” in its spectrum monetization efforts and is pleased with the value realized in the sale. Array’s board also declared a special cash dividend of $11 per common share and Series A common share, payable June 25 to shareholders of record on June 11.
From Verizon’s side, the main takeaway is simple: the $1 billion spectrum purchase is now complete.
