According to a report recently published by FierceWireless, it turns out that Sprint is currently testing new unlimited data pricing options in no less than half a dozen cities within the United States. The fourth biggest mobile operator in America has confirmed that it is indeed conducting trials involving new unlimited data plans, just as it has on several past occasions for purposes of trying to continuously update or make its offerings competitive with that of its rivals in the wireless industry.
As indicated in FierceWireless’ report, the tests were first spotted by Wave7 Research, a market research company that specializes in tracking pricing trends and new promotional deals in the American wireless market. All of the six market trials conducted by Sprint involve granting subscribers a subscription to the Hulu video service, free of charge, a six month trial of the Tidal HiFi music feature, additional international roaming plans, and 15 gigabytes of hotspot data. Mobile users who are based in any one of the test markets will reportedly enjoy the option of picking between an SD or HD Unlimited Data plan. In the existing set up, new subscribers are qualified to be upgraded to HD for a whole year, for up to 10 lines of service.
In Atlanta, Georgia and Phoenix, Arizona, Sprint is experimenting with four lines of service of Ultimate Unlimited, which is priced at $35 per month for each line. After a year’s time, that pricing will increase to $65 per month for the first line, $45 per month for the second line, and $25 per month for the third and fourth lines (assuming all plans are availed of with automatic payments; also, other fees and conditions may apply).
Meanwhile in the cities of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Charlotte, North Carolina, Sprint is trying out a plan for new subscribers who decide to bring four existing devices or purchase new handsets at standard retail pricing. This particular deal is also offered with a 50 percent discount for users switching from Verizon Wireless. On top of that, the plan promises four lines of service of the carrier’s Unlimited service priced at $25 per month for each line. After 12 months, subscribers will have to pay $55 per month for the first line, $35 per month for the second line, and then $15 per month for the third and fourth lines (all with automatic payments).
Lastly, in the metros of New Orleans, Louisiana and St Louis, Missouri, Sprint is promising a whole month of service, free of charge, for people who bring in their existing devices. As for those switching from rival networks, they get a chance to avail of four lines of service of the carrier’s Unlimited service for $35 per month for each line. Then after a year, subscribers will be required to pay $65 per month for the first line, $45 per month for the second line, and $25 per month for the third and fourth lines (all with automatic payments).
